Hey, Mel - Every time you subtract the first and second digit of a double digit number, you get a multiple of nine. Try it... it doesn't fail. So if you look at the chart of items, every multiple of nine has the same item. I did it twice and noticed she switched them up to throw us off. Pretty nifty...
