This week...

We've discovered cool mushrooms by the bus stop...

And how much fun it is to slime the changing table mirror after a bath...

And how that long hair looks cuter in a little sprout....

... And that apparently a baby sister needs to be labeled with her name...

just in case.

Soccer

Tyler scored his first goal this morning.

Aubrey cheers from the sidelines.

Olive's Birthday

It's hard to believe a year has already passed since Olive was born. I will never forget that day. I received a phone call from my Mom while I was at work, telling me that Lynette was having her baby. I sobbed and sobbed, filled with worry and anxiously waiting to know more.

Today, I remember her with love. My heart is heavy for Lynette and Rusty.

The park this evening

Eight Months

Eight months already. We are really enjoying your generally happy, easy-going personality.
You've started to kick one leg, kind of tapping it on the floor, when you are happy. I find this quite endearing. Of course there is your tousled hair and big grin, as well as the little forced cough for attention that always make me smile.

You LOVE to pull yourself up to any and everything. Some things move (like the recliner) which causes frustration for you.

Recently you've taken to playing with your tongue, often sticking it out over your lip. I wonder if you are enjoying exploring that new tooth with your tongue.
Love you little sweetness!

Fair 2010

Sunday afternoon, we dropped Aubrey off with Grandpa Stuckey's and headed to the state fair with friends. I found it interesting that Tyler was worried about Aubrey. He noted that we had never left her without one of us staying with her. The whole way to the fair, he would talk to her car seat base as though she was there. :)

Wayne and I started out riding the Zipper, which worried Tyler. He needed coaxing to let go of me so that I could go on the ride. I enjoyed it as I had expected, though by the end I was very hot and nauseous. Then, after what seemed like a very long time of unloading/loading people, the operator unexpectedly sent us around again. I was soooo ready to get out of there! As you might expect, we let Tyler use most of the remainder of our tickets. :)

Tyler opted for much more tame rides.

We all had a great time, despite the heat. After rides, food, and even watching a pig race, we were beat. We ended the day with a relaxing ride on the Ferris wheel.

Firsts

Nearly a week ago, on Labor Day, Aubrey started to crawl. She is now trying to pull herself up, and gets frustrated when she can't. She often stands on her knees and seems to like the leverage that gives her. Here's a little video of her playing with a stuffed dog, crawling, and "talking."

We signed Tyler up for soccer, his first organized sport, a few weeks ago. He begged not to be signed up, but we thought it would be a good experience for him. Wayne is their team coach.

Saturday was Tyler's first soccer game. Since we haven't practiced much with him and Tyler is the only one on his team who didn't play last year, I was a little nervous.

Our team was scoring quite a few goals, while the other team was not. I was impressed that that the parents from our team (the silver Jets) were also cheering for the other team (the blue Dragons) in hopes that they would have fun and feel proud of themselves too. :) I missed some of the game when Aubrey had projectile vomiting (first time for either of my kids to throw up that I recall) and then I discovered that she also had a poopy diaper.

The video is of the beginning of the game, and I enjoyed watching Tyler's confidence grow as they played. Afterward, I was happy to hear Tyler say that he had a good time. (The AYSO sent us a pack of jerseys that were not based on the sizes of our kids. Tyler's shirt is in a knot because he's wearing an adult small).

Another first for the day was Aubrey's first tooth poking through. I have yet to see it, but I have felt it. She does not like me poking around in her mouth to try to see it, so I guess it's still tender.

I had decided not to post about any more losses of teeth, but it just so happened that the day Aubrey got her first tooth, Tyler lost a tooth. It was a toothy day! :)
