Memorial Day

We spent Memorial Day with Ted and Sue. It was a very nice, relaxing day. Though the temperature said it was 90 degrees, it was cloudy and very windy. But that didn't stop Tyler and Aubrey from enjoying the spray park.

This was Aubrey for most of our time at the park.

Standing off to the side just a bit.

Get me outta here!

But it's kind of fun. Maybe I'll go back for more.

Time for a break to warm up.

So exciting!

or maybe not so much

Aubrey's turn to warm up.

This week

Tuesday - Playing piano

Wednesday, I got to go help Tyler's class with their Spring party. I think they all had a great time. Of course, I forgot my camera, so I'll have to wait on the room parent to send me pictures. This was also my last day of school for the year.

Wednesday evening-Aubrey is eager to play outside every chance she gets. She loves being pushed around on Tyler's scooter.

Thursday was Tyler's last day of kindergarten. Since I didn't have to work, we had lunch at McDonald's and I took him to school, and picked him up. I enjoyed hearing the excitement of the kids, cheering, horns honking and seeing groups of kids walking around together, celebrating the end of another school year.
This year was particularly stressful at my school, so this weekend, I've been savoring focusing on other things. What I've most been looking forward to was having friends over (last night) to celebrate the beginning of summer break. We made Mexican food and enjoyed hanging out.

The babies even kept themselves busy for awhile, playing in the kitchen. (Aubrey's using the Crisco container as a seat).

The older boys mostly played outside, though here they're trying on spy gear.

Today, I tried to get pictures of the kids.
They didn't cooperate very well...

Aubrey - 16 months

Can you tell what Wayne's favorite shirt for Aubrey is? Since she seems to wear it every time it's clean. :)

So, I want to document what she's doing now so that I don't forget.

Aubrey is still mostly babbling, and she seems to believe that we understand her. To her vocabulary, she has added "no," "go," her version of "Tyler," and her version of "night-night" (which sounds more like "ya ya"), complete with kisses, smiles and excited waving to Daddy and Tyler as she is happy to go to bed. So different from her brother. :) She wakes between 7 and 8:30, naps from about 12:30-3:30 and goes to bed around 9. She loves to play, hams it up, gives lots of hugs, makes a "mmm" sound for giving kisses to her stuffed animals, waves (at cars, the bus, the checkout lady...). When it comes to food, we just experiment because some days she'll take 2 bites and refuses to eat more, some days she won't try something at all, and other days she eats the same thing and finishes it off. She still loves music, and loves to dance. She is such a sweet little love. :)

Little Man

It's hard for me to believe that Tyler is nearly done with kindergarten. How has this happened? I get a little sentimental thinking about how quickly he is growing up. Then, there are days when seeing him get off that big bus...it makes him looks so, so little. Is it bad that this is a little reassuring for me?

Tonight in the car, he was complaining that adults get to do all the fun things that kids don't get to do. All of my reminders of the fun things he gets to do and doesn't have to worry about because he's little, fell on deaf ears. As I expected they would. He's most excited about driving some day. Oh boy. :)

Music Program - May 5

Tyler's Spring music program was Thursday. Wayne stayed home so that Aubrey could nap, and I got to go to the program. It was titled Cute As A Bug. It was true to its name - all about bugs and very cute!

Tyler was an Ant (#10) in the program. Here is that song...(for those who are interested).

Mother's Day

Today, we enjoyed the beautiful weather by taking a trip to the zoo.

And on the way out, appreciated that we weren't in this line. (Posing only to capture the looooong line).

Tyler wrote, I love my Mommy. My Mommy is special because she cooks dishes.
